Default the coolant dilema

hey guys!!! im new to the site in a desperate search to fix the problem on my wife's 2000 2.4 caravan. when we got it it was just leaking from the radiator, so i replaced it along with the hoses and thermostat. now shes not leaking but the coolant keeps disapearing over a gallon a day!!!!! this saturday im replacing the valve cover gasket just to replace the spark plugs to see if they are green meaning it has a head gasket problem but it drives like a baby!!!! she only missfires at start up, about a minute after shes on, wont do it again any ideas would be much apreciated!!!!! i just hope to fix it before winter smaks me on the head lol!

I would do a pressure test on the cooling system and find out where the leak is.

that's the thing its not leakin or at least its not leaking to the floor there is not a drop of coolant anywere to be found, thats why i think its the head gasket but there is no coolant on the oil either, so im thinking its burning it or something!

You would be amazed how many times I've read of people saying they are loosing coolant but can't find the leak then they do a pressure test and it magically appears. If you still don't see a leak try a compression test. A clue to a blown head gasket is white smoke in the exhaust. Any there? Another is milky engine oil.
