Default Does New Evaporator Core Come With Expansion Valve?

1997 Chrysler T&C LXi

I bought a new evaporator core online from MoparPartsAmerica.com and a new expansion valve. I also bought new O rings.

(This company is a Dodge Chrysler Jeep Dealer in Oregon)

When I opened it up, it looked like there was an expansion valve already bolted onto the evaporator core.

I called them and they said no, maybe it's just something to protect the ends.

A few days later the expansion valve showed up (it came with new O rings, so there is no need to buy them if you buy the expansion valve it seems).

Here are photos. The numbers inscribed on the devices are different but they sure look the same.

BTW, how do I know how tight to tighten the screws holding the valve onto the evaporator core?

thanks

The one in your hand has the word rear and the other one doesn't. Could the one in your hand be for the rear a/c?
