Default Problem with install heater core, 06

06 caravan--Read haynes 03 to 06 manual, install heater core. Says to "remove brake light switch from it's bracket" in order to remove core. Maybe it doesn't need to be removed. I know others have found other ways less complicated then Haynes directs i.e. alternator removal.

Haynes says go to chap 9 about switch removal method. "Do not remove the small lever on the switch or remove the switch unless you intend on replacing it. once removed, it cannot be reused". I don't want to remove it, just move it from the bracket. Does this mean I removed it?

For those who have installed core before: Can't I keep the small lever in place in switch and just remove switch from it's bracket without constituting buying a new switch and then adjusting it, what ever that means?

Does the switch have to be removed in order to get core out?

Ok, removing the switch from the bracket means removing it and technically it should be replaced. The little lever on the back is used for initial adjustment and should not be messed with. As long as you are not moving the steering column, the switch should be fine and you should be able to put it back into the bracket with no issues. As long as you don't have adjustable pedals, you should have little issue with the heater core replacement.
