Engine Control Module
Does anybody know someplace that can test the ECM/ECU ? Is this something that most dealerships can do if I take it out and bring it to them ?
No spark. Coils make good spark when I use my Snap-On MT2500 scanner to test them. Does the fact that the ECM communicates with the scanner mean anything good or bad ?
And you're already checked for good CMP and CKP signals? If not, I'd suspect them long before a bad PCM. High failure rates on those sensors. And no, dealers usually don't have the equipment to check the PCM. Even if they did, it would probably be cheaper to buy a rebuilt unit than to pay them to test it and then turn around a buy a rebuilt.
But if you really want it tested, you could send it in to a rebuilder and pay them to test it.

RickMN, Yes I ran a test with my Snap-On MT2500 scanner on the camshaft and crankshaft position sensors via the diagnostic connector. I should mention here that in my frustration with this repair, I have posted another thread describing everything I have done so far. If you are interested, look for the heading that says it's a 1994 GC AWD 3.3 no spark at plugs.
FYI your webiste has a diagram of the Camshaft Position Sensor, Crankshaft Position Sensor and Powertrain contol Module under one of the repair by make/model headings. I'm not sure it pertains to my 1994 GC. The wire colors are not the same as what I am dealing with, but it shows terminal #44 on the PCM providing the 8 Volt power for both sensors and as the Crankshaft Signal. Just thought you may want to check it and make a correction if it's wrong.
Thank you for your interest in helping me

Don't know if anyone can test them, but I had several codes a few years ago that pointed to an ECM failure. Ordered a rebuilt one from a shop on line. They even sent a pre-paid package to send my core back. Really inexpensive, like 1/6 or 1/8 of what the part shop at the dealer quoted. As I recall, I had to send the shop some information like maybe the VIN and current mileage so that they could program it accordingly. Information may have been different, I can't exactly recall. Anyway, it worked out great and has been running like a top for years now (knock on wood).
I don't remember exactly, but I think it only cost around $100 including shipping. Can't beat that. If you need the name of the place I might be able to dig it back up. Good luck.

O.K., I went back and checked some old notes. Looks like I bought my rebuilt ECM in May of '08, so it's been running well for 3.5 years since. Either I was wrong, or the prices have gone up a bit. Not sure what year you're looking for, but one for my '01 Grand Caravan now costs around $275. The vender is called "allcomputerresources" and they have their on-line presence through e-bay. Don't know if it breaks any rules to give out their name here, but I don't have any connection to them so I'll go ahead and give it if it helps anyone. My apologies if that's not appropriate here. Here's a link to their e-bay profile: http://myworld.ebay.com/allcomputerr...id=p4340.l2559
Again, good luck.

I also bought an ECM from eBay although the vendor was in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area. The first one they sent set a bogus code and they wouldn't sent an exchange first before I sent the defective one back which meant doing without the vehicle for another 8-10 days. I even offered to give them a core charge if their thought was that I wouldn't return the first one but they refused to budge.
These are the people I bought it from and to be fair, the replacement unit has worked just fine.
