Default Expert needed for trans swap info!

He all. I am a semi retired mechanic, but have really not been involved much with Chrysler products except an ocational trade in when I worked at dealers and my own daily drivers. I'll give the basic question I have and then boring backround after.

Question:
Will a 2006 Chrysler T&C 41TE work in a 2000 Chrysler T&C? Both are 3.3. I am more than capable of changing out sensors and linkages. I am more worried about if it will actually work or will it throw my computer into a nervous breakdown and leave me in permanent limp mode.

Backround: I have owned this 2000 T&C for about 7 years and about 140,000 of its 215,000 miles. I put a used 2001 T&C trans in it at 100,000 miles and truthfully have done little maintenance since. That trans had about 80,000 on it when I installed it. It is now 'slam' shifting from 3rd to 4th and back. I have done a service and filter and have had no improvement. The magnet had a few shavings and tons of friction material goop. I have found a 2006 Chrysler T&C 3.3 with 80,000 miles and service records that has been in a bad side swipe accident. I can buy the trans for $100. For that price if it will work in my 2000 its not even really worth trying to fix my current trans. A torque converter costs more than that! Anyway I just need to know if it will work. I posted this question on another Caravan specific forum and everyone wants me to fix my current one that is nearing 200,000 miles. That just doesn't make sense to me. Even if I fix the current problem, how much life is left in the poor thing? I am recently a new foster father to two young kids and this van is our workhorse that makes up to a dozen short trips a day. Next month we are going on a 3000 mile trip and I want to be a little more confident of it than I am now!

Thanks for all ahead of time!

Jay

I don't think so. I did some reasearch on Trans Vendors for you, some of the connectors and Pin outs have changed over the years.
Such as this picture, this pic from Jasper's website, and for 2000 and 2006, the trans part number is 1 number different according to their catalog. Jasper atually wants you to look for few things in the old one, when u order a 41TE trans from them. You can get more detail by doing some research on their website.

If you need info on used Parts interchangibility and cross reference, Calling the Junkyard is your best bet. They subscribe to company that provides these information, and they helped me few times in the past.
