Its a right-tighty thread. I don't remember if I "had to" remove it or not but I do know I had to block the engine from falling before removing it. I was thinking that was the reason Dodge put it there...letting us diy'ers know its a pretty important fastener.
Anyway, haven't searched yet for the proper "pentastar" wrench but can anyone tell me where to get it?
And for reference, no standard or metric socket or open end wrench would fit on this.

Pentastar nut?
I came across this nut today while changing a friend's timing belt on a 2000 2.4 Caravan. I removed the entire bracket and it wasn't until I needed to remove the nut (to replace the torn mount) that I realized that it was 5-sided. A fire hydrant wrench works great to remove it (I tend to do a lot of auto work while on-duty at my station). I purchased a M12x1.75 (maybe it was 1.5) nut from NAPA to replace the 5-sided unit. In my opinion, an interfering thread nut would have been a better choice than this odd-ball nut. My $0.02
