I own an 08 Grand caravan where the paint is starting to corrode on the hood. Has anyone else had problems with this? I took it to the dealer and they said they would submit a claim with Chrysler but that the corrosion had to be really bad and they probably would deny the claim. Just wondering if anyone else has experience with paint issues and how Chrysler handled the situation.

 

Is it corroding? or just de-laminating, never hear of paint corroding.

 

Corrosion? would mean it's rusting from under the paint lifting the paint.

De-laminating clear coat, all too common on older cars and vans don't know why ( epa regulations on voc's probably- volitile organic compounds)

Clear coat lifting should be covered under a bumper to bumper warranty. double check the fine print though.

Here in florida you see this everywhere on almost every type and make of car.

 

The clear coat on my 2005 T&C delaminated as well, just on the hood though, nowhere else.

 

For most, the delaminating starts on the horizontal surfaces (hood, top) and then progresses. There is a new, one step, integated clear coat out that supposedly stops the delaminating issue, of course that wont help those of us that already have the issue.
