Default 1997 Dodge Caravan

I have in my possession a formerly good running dodge caravan. I have been running it to keep the battery charged but while it was running it was turned off and now will not start. when I turn the ignition a clicking sound results. It's coming from somewhere inside the engine and the starter motor won't run. I tried jumping it but that didn't work either.

Any ideas/tips/help?

The battery is very new but I will try cleaning the cables. Baking soda and water right?
Everything was working fine until it got shut off. I couldn't start it 2 seconds later. :-/

don't you have any friends/neighbors/co-workers that know anything or know someone that could have a look and see what's up?

Try recharging the battery and check the charging system.

Default 1997 caravan base Starting issue.

I have a similar problem. I used the car last tues evening for work. Everything was fine. In the morning when I tried to start it all I got was a clicking under the dash somewhere. The clicking remained even when I turned the key off. Mu 1998 Neon did this same thing as well but I had just taken it off the road and never looked at it. I charged the battery for about a day and a half until I needed it again. I got the same thing. Putting it in neeutral does not help. Any ideas???

If you 've followed the above suggestions, then you need to run the codes. No way other than to guess with the limited information provided.

Have you tried jump start it using jumper cables? Head to the nearest parts store and have them do a load test on the battery. They are usually free. Other than that verify the battery and starter connections are clean and tight. Don't just look. Loosen and re-tighten.

BTW -You won't get any relative codes in a no crank situation.
