'98 caravan
I bought a nice 98 caravan at a sale, I noticed the serpetine belt ran about halfway off the tensioner and it had a pretty good oil leak, but it ran excellent and the transmission changes like new,so I drove it 500 miles with no check engine light or any other problems. The oil leak was the front seal and the tensioner and idler pulley was tight and seemed to be lined up perfectly with everthing else, even though the belt runs out of line. The van has 147000 miles on the 3.o v6,so i pulled the front off the motor.I'm replacing the timing belt, water pump, bypass hose, timing belt tensioner, front seal, fan belt tensioner and idler pulley, and serpentine belt. When I found tdc on the crankshaft, the cam gear lined up on the left head, but the notch was off 1 tooth on the right side head, was that because of a stretched timing belt or some knuckle head put it on wrong? It surprized me it ran so well like that, what do you think?
