A/C-HEATER CONTROL CALIBRATION

The A/C-heater control module must be recalibrated each time an actuator motor or the A/C-heater control is replaced. If the vehicle is so equipped, the calibration procedure also includes rear HVAC positions for each actuator motor.
1. Turn the ignition switch to the On position. 2. If equipped with the manual temperature control (MTC) system, press and hold the Rear Wipe/Wash and Recirculation buttons for at least five seconds. If equipped with the automatic temperature control (ATC) systen, simultaneously press and hold the Power and Recirculation buttons on the A/C-heater control for at least five seconds. The MTC A/C-heater control Rear Wipe/Wash button light emitting diode (LED) and Recirculation button LED, or the ATC A/C-heater control Delay and Recirculation graphics will begin to flash when the calibration procedure has begun. 3. The calibration procedure should take less than two minutes to complete for the manual A/C-heater control, and less than twenty seconds for the ATC A/C-heater control. When the LEDs or graphics stop flashing, the calibration procedure is complete. 4. If the LEDs or graphics continue to flash beyond the two minute (manual) or twenty second (ATC) calibration time, it indicates that the A/C-heater control has detected a failure and a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) has been set. Refer to Body Diagnostic Procedures to perform further diagnosis. The LEDs or graphics will continue to flash even after the ignition switch is cycled Off and On, until a successful calibration is completed or until the vehicle has been driven about 13 kilometers (8 miles).

My 2002 Voyager has the manual system and I got it to calibrate by pressing the power and recirculate buttons. Was having an issue where it would blow a little out of the panel vents when set to blow from the foot vents. I had to turn it about 2 clicks past to turn the panel vents off completely. I had been looking everywhere, and found this just a few minutes ago. Thank you for the information.

Default 2006 Grand Caravan does not switch to defrost

When I turn the **** on the vent control for my 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan, it will not switch to defrost or vent through the floor. It seems stuck in venting through the front vents. Both the ac and heat are working in the front and rear vents. I performed the ac heater calibration and there were no error messages. could this be a blend vent actuator? Or just the switch?

There are no error messages, the led just keeps flashing after calibration is done.

Ok. Then the calibration went fine. Even though I can turn the know, I still cannot change the heat from the vents in the dash to defrost or the the floor. The **** rotates and works fine. Any suggestions on what to check? We have sub 0 temps and I need to get the hot air to come out the defrost.

Do the positions change when you ran calibration? If so, then the box is fine and would lean more toward the control panel. If they did not change then would look at the actuator.

I ran the calibration again and noticed that the positions did change, i.e., it switched to defrost and vented out the floor during the calibration. After the test though, it still only blows out of the front vents. Seems like it might be the switch or control panel (?)

yep, I would lean more toward that way. When you turn the ****, the resistance is supposed to change and it probably isn't anymore. Could be dirty contacts......don't remember if you can take those apart or not, used to have to do that for the Avenger / Sebrings all the time.
