So most of our cv shafts come in a reman which are very resonable. That left shaft is one that does not come in reman, just OE.......so ching ching. The right shaft in reman is just a hondo so not bad.

Sorry to hear about the shop meltdown, see what I mean about the heat.

Geesh!
I'm also the same way. I took our van in for an alignment to a local Goodyear dealer. Couple of days later, I decide to double check the lug nut torques which is supposed to be 100 ft./lbs. My wrench was still clicking at 150 ft./lbs and I was afraid of snapping a stud so I went back.
The owner swore up and down and almost on the proverbial stack of Bibles that his mechanics only used torque sticks. I said fine, you go out and loosen them up. He came back in and said "You win". One of his mechanics had obviously taken a shortcut and got caught. The funny thing was that a couple of weeks later, a friend(to whom I'd told the story) went in for new tires and told the owner to be sure to torque the lug nuts correctly. The owner told him that he'd only had one other person tell him that.

Torque sticks are a joke, I don't know of anybody that sets them up right.

Well I ordered an new Cardone from Rockauto. I have googled them and back in 2009 folks were suggesting the remanfg's were better because the news were from China with wide tolerances and Cardone basically makes em better remaninng them. I hoope things have changes since 2009.

Got the new Cardone Select axle in from Rockauto. Contrary to a 2009 review post from elsewhere all the machining looks top notch. The packaging was well done and the dust cover was not bent. The threaded end is very nicely done and the nut spins smooth as glass. I am a machinist so I have an eye and feel for it.
I'll be having it installed next week.

Found time to have the Cardone Select CV Axel installed today. I looked on as they installed it. It went very smooth and I put 100 miles on it today with no probs.
