Default 2008 caravan pcv valve

I have a 2008 caravan 48,000 miles that is loosing oil but there is no apparent leak.I purchased a new pcv valve but I can t get the old one out.I easily got the hose off but cant get the valve out of the valve cover. It pulls up about 1/8 of an inch and stops.I have tried twisting and pulling but dont want to break something. How do you get this out without completely destroying it. I have changed many pcv valves but never struggled to pull on out like this. Any advice??

I've had some so busted up I thought I was going to have to pull the valve cover. Might want to try warming up the grommet to make it more flexable.
