Default 2003 Dodge Caravan 3.3L Black smoke and sputtering problems

I'm looking at getting a 2003 dodge caravan for $1500 and the lady that has the van for sale says that it has black smoke and sputters. She has replaced the Map Sensor,Wiring Harness,Plugs and wires recently. I don't know what the problem could be. She said she suspects it needs a new pcm.
