Default 98 Grand Caravan, Only Reverse?

My dads 1998 Grand Caravan had the transmission go. It will shift into reverse fine, but any of the forward gears refuse to engage and it just revs the engine. Heres the codes I pulled:

P0700 Dodge Automatic Transmission Control System Malfunction
P0731 Dodge A/T Additional Gear Ratio Error In First Gear
P0732 Dodge A/T Additional Gear Ratio Error In Second Gear
P0733 Dodge A/T Additional Gear Ratio Error In Third Gear
P0734 Dodge A/T Additional Gear Ratio Error In Fourth Gear
P1787 Dodge Hydraulic Pressure Switch: OD

I'm kinda fearing its the entire transmission going (at a cost of what, $3k), versus the solonoid pack which is closer to $200.

Any further clues to point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

First thing i would if it were my, is to pull the transmission and perform a tear down and inspect. You could end up replacing the transmission or overhaul.

apparently the underdrive clutch set is not applying, you could remove one of the speed sensors and look for debri, if they are contaminated on the end of them, then its a guarantee its mechanical and will have to be addressed....To rule out the possibility of the solenoid assembly, you could remove the pressure port right under the solenoid pack and to the far left, look for pressure in the drive position, if there is no pressure, then the porblem is not mechanical, very possible the solenoid did fail....

Both responses are excellent thank you! But sadly I am not mechanically inclined So I'm not sure how to even begin checking anything beyond like fluids and other basic car stuff.
