Default Phatom Oil Leak

Recently purchased a 1998 Dodge Caravan 2.4l with 30,000 miles in Naples Fl. Drove it back home to Cleveland, Oh area no problems. Once home noticed oil leak. In the area on the drivers side of block below the head appears to be wet with oil film. Not tranny, thats red. Used half qt. oil in 2700 miles. Power steering same color as engine oil. Niether power steering fluid or tranny fluid levels going down. Any suggestions?

Could the oil pressure switch or the camshaft sensor? Try adding engine dye and check with a black light. The oil will turn yellow and make easy to find.

Default Phantom Oil Leak

After some research & verified at dealer, oil leak coming from drivers side rear of engine below head. This is common problem I found out on 96 -99
2.4l engines. Cost to have head gasket replaced 1,000.00. Due to the condition and low miles, it will be repaired.
