Default slow going up a hill

I have a 2006 Grand Caravan with 77k. When I am climbing a steep incline, my van is floored but the speedometer says 40mph and the RPM needle is at 4! It's as if I'm dragging a laarge rock! Like the transmission is slipping and it won't jump into gear. When I'm on a flat road, there are no issues. Can someone share some insight with me? Is it the fuel filter? Thank you in advance.

Default Mercury !!

Sounds like your M.A.P. switch is gummed up just tired . You didn't give an engine size ?? The map will be on top of the intake manifold .When you get a new M.A.P. you can find it easy looking on the right side top . Pull your locking red tab then pull the wiring plug . Turn the map genty counter clock & lift to remove. This should wake up or free your h.p..
This is a blind internet rec. with very little info . Good luck . Lovvorn

Thank you. I tried to google M>A>P with no luck. What is it? Also, I have the 3.6l engine.

MAP = Manifold Absolute Pressure. It's a measure of engine load based on the vacuum reading for the intake manifold.

Default Map

Thanks. I am willing to change the MAP and see if that resolves the issue. But, after researching the MAP sensor, I was thinking maybe it's not the MAP sensor. When driving on a level ground, I have no issues. It's only when I'm going up a steep incline. Also, the Malfunction Light isn't on. Could it still be the MAP?

You could try to borrow a code reader/scanner to see what the sensor is telling the computer the engine vacuum is. Idle should be in the range of 9".
