I had a previous post concerning this issue with my 03' Caravan. There is an engine rattling noise coming from top/passenger side of engine on idle. By eliminating other possibilities my mechanic thinks it is the timing chain. Van has 115,000 miles. Was wondering how much life is left in this timing chain or if it needs to be changed immediately. I'd say its been making noise for the last 10,000 miles or so. Any help is appreciated

 

Timing chains last for a long time. But it is possible the is causing your rattling sound.
