Default 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan Lemon

Where to begin. Bought the van in November 2011. The van now has just under 20,000 km. and it is having nothing but problems. For the last 5 weeks it has been in every week with something going wrong. I have new cam phasers, new shocks, new brakes. They even just installed a new fuel saving thing... Every time you stop at a red light it shuts the engine off. Guess I can say now it will be in for the Sixth week in a row. Oh.. I almost forgot when it is driving it has a pulsation for the added effect of driving. Does anyone else have problems with their 2012 Dodge Grand Caravans or am I just the lucky one to buy a lemon.

Well, I think you just had a bad luck of draw. Dodge sold millions of minivans, there are some bad one out there.
CAM phaser is common. Chrysler has a bad supplier on the first batch of engines. Not sure why they replace Shock. What is a Fuel saving thing?
Why don't you ask your dealer to get you into a Loaner/rental, drop your car off for a week, and tell their mechanic to drive the car home for a week. and you do NOT want the car back until he thinks everything is as good as the day you bought it.

They replaced the shocks because I complained about a rattle 4 days after I purchased it which back in Nov 2011. They kept telling me it was a door rattle until they hired a new service manager who then diagnosed it as being faulty shocks. The Fuel saving thing is just kind of a joke... I was referring to the fact that it now is shutting down every time I came to a stop light. The dealership has been really good for providing me with a loaner/rental car, they just can't seem to fix the engine issues. They first cleaned the cam phasers, then they replaced the cam phasers solenoids, now they are going to see if replaces the cam phasers entirely cleans this mess up. Does it make sense for the engine to shut off because of faulty cam phasers?

Well, I be honest with you, this is the first batch of a new engine. Chrysler is still trying to figure everything out. CAM phaser is common failure, the perma fix is to replace it with an updated version.
Regading it dies out on stop light... I've never seen a CAM phaser is bad enough to do that yet. The common symptom of CAM phaser failure is the Van has no *****... it will literally runs like a 3 cylinder Geo Metro. But who knows what a bad cam phaser can do...

Give your van a chance! And hopefully this time is done for good!

Check your rear fender wells also to see if there are rub marks. Mine has them from the inside door panel rubbing on the there when the sliding doors are opened all the way. Apparently this is another common problem with these vehicles, amongst many others I have had as you have had.

Currently my van is at the dealership with the top end of the motor all torn apart so they can take photos and send to tech line at dodge to determine what the problem is. They can't seem to find the problem. I haven't seen any damage in the rear fender walls as of yet, but thanks for the tip. I will keep an eye on that.

Just to let everyone know. They ended up replacing my engine. It is now running very good with no issues.

I am also having issues with rubbing from the sliding doors. I have had it in twice and am still having issues. They first replaced the panel spacers on the inner doors, which didn't help. They then proceeded to replace the inner door panels and the spacers again. It has been about a month since the last repair and there are scuff marks again. Hopefully they can fix it soon. I would prefer my new vehicle not look like I drove through a tight space and scraped both sides.

At least you have a dealership that treats you with a level of respect as a customer. That's becoming a rare event. Here's to hoping your troubles are over
