How come they are discontinuing the Caravan on the 2013 model year?
Simply put, they're just reducing the overhead cost of their vans. Doesn't matter what they call it (i.e. Dodge or Chrysler) they will combine the two product lines into one. The model line will continue with the ones under that brand name as well as the ones from the other brand name.
In Europe vans were sold under the Chrysler brand name (regardless of the features) using the Voyager model name. They are now sold under the Lancia brand name still using the Voyager model name. The point being, doesn't matter what Brand name/model name the vans will be sold under, Chrysler/Fiat will continue to sell mini-vans that meet certain feature/price points. Call it what ever you want. Oh, lets not forget the VW variant sold only here in North America.

saw something online the other day, (maybe the 100?) based on the CUSW platform of the dart, the mule is using the body of the alpha Guiletta(which the platform is based on) I believe the Chrysler version is supposed to be a hatchback (going for the Neon/PT Cruiser type relationship)
course i can't remember where i read that, so it could all be a load of poo...
