Our 07 van developed a severe rod knock yesterday, oil was full, oil changes every 3K mi since day 1, always mobil oil and wix filters, no check engine or oil lights now(hammers like a bad diesel), still full of now metal flaked mobil 5w-20 oil.
Once I get past the frustration of all this I have to ask-If this was yours would you rebuild this engine or seek out a replacement?
And second- if the oil light comes on when starting but not when the engine is hammering so bad you can hear it 35 ft away at idle should I replace all of that also?
Opinions anyone?
