Default Caravan Aftermarket Transmission oil pan

Has anyone seen a aftermarket transmission oil pan for a Caravan? I need one for a 2003 3.3 v6 that will hopefully hold an additional quart of fluid, have a drain plug, and a 1/8" npt bung for a temperature sensor. Any help would be appreciated

Never saw one like what you are describing, but perhaps a junkyard unit could be fabricated that would have the temp sensor and drain plug. Not sure what to do about the extra fluid. I would be afraid it would be too close to the ground if it were any lower-hanging.

I thought about TIGing one together with what I want, but I wanted to find out if anyone already made one. The transmission oil pan mounts at about 45 degrees so it shouldn't be a clearence problem.

I cannot imagine any aftermarket ever making such a pan. Just no call for it.

Even if you were to find a deeper pan to hold additional atf, I wouldn't. The transmission is already to close to the ground has it is. If you do find a deeper pan, it will be a lot easier to hit the pavement.

The pan sits at quite an angle, so if you made it deeper from the middle to the high part of the pan you could modify a stock pan to hold more fluid without reducing ground clearance. I thought the pan helped hold the filter in place though, so if you deepen the pan you might need to add some ridges to hold the filter up in place.

Nobody makes one with what you are looking for, but there is a dorman pan which already has a drain plug on it, that should be a good start. Could you get away with drilling and tapping the drain plug for your temperature sensor? I've done that on oil pan drain plugs before and it has worked well.

If you need 1L more fluid in the system, why not upgrade the size of the transmission cooler? That would give you more fluid capacity and better cooling (which, from your temperature sensor request) sounds like something you are concerned about.

Good point zero10, I would agree with you on the transmission cooler.

WOW, never thought to suggest something so simple as zero10. 2 of the best (and probably only) ideas for what you are looking to accomplish.
