Default Hid or something else?

So, I cleaned up the lenses on the 00 G Voyager, and installed Silverstars before the road trip. It made a difference, but the headlights still are bad, especially compared to the brand new Chevy 1500 van that they rented for us to take on the church mission trip. I thought mine were alright until I drove that van in the Kentucky mountains in the fog- I could see really well. We took my van, and 3 rentals. What is everyone else doing to see better at night?

So, no-one else with a 96-00 has done anything to improve their night visability? Would really appreciate some suggestions before I hack some running lights into the grille.

I too have the silverstars but suffered from foggy worn lens covers. I was about to try one of those cheap lens restorer kits until I noticed a can of clear coat in my garage. I figured why the hell not, if it doesn't work I will get a kit. Unbelievable difference, it literally fills in all the scratches and chips in the lens, who would have thought clear coat lol. The lights are now brighter on my 2000 caravan than on my 2008 Jeep Wrangler.
