dodge caravan 2008 tow capacity to 3500lbs
Why the dodge caravan 2008 se 3.3 l can't tow 3500 lbs with the tow packages. The 2006 2007 can but not the 2008 model maybe is the new redesign model the problem
I would guess the real problem is that the rear suspension has been softened or changed in a way making it unable to handle the higher tongue weights with heavier trailers.
As for the drivetrain, I have towed well over 5K lbs with my 2002 Grand Caravan. I was extra careful and made sure to be as gentle on the drivetrain when doing that as possible. I also have Air Lift airbags on my rear axle with an onboard compressor so I can add a ton of support to the rear suspension.
So, my suggestion is to find the real weak link and see if you can reinforce it. Rear airbags in the suspension are an excellent way to add load capacity without stiffening the suspension when not needed.
