Trans Cooler Question
I've got a 2006 Grand Caravan with the 3.3 engine.
Unfortunately I've developed a transmission fluid leak in the upper portion of the A/C Condensor. My question is this: rather than dealing with replacing the entire condensor as well as having to recharge the A/C system afterwards, why couldn't I add an aftermarket transmission cooler that mounts directly in front of the condensor? My thinking is that as long as the sq. in. of the new cooler is at or above the sq. in. that is used in the condensor I should still get the same amount of cooling.
Is this practical or possible? I'm thinking $60 for the cooler is way better than $160 plus recharging costs if I replace the condensor. BTW: the minivan is NOT used for any towing or anything other than soccer-mom driving.
Thanks for reading.
