2012 sxt no automatic headlights?
I just purchased a 2012 Dodge Caravan SXT from carmax yesterday. It has 28k miles is in excellent condition and so far I love it. my only issue is that it does not come with an automatic light switch? That is crazy--shouldn't that come standard? Or, does it come standard and I didn't buy what I thought I did. This is my 1st purchase of a Dodge vehicle and don't really know anything about them. Also, does it say SXT on the right bottom corner of the vehicle? All mine says is Grand Caravan on the left side. Thanks for your time, Kimmers
i think he means lights comes on when its dark out. i hate why they did not incoporate this issue into all cares as a standard must. so many people drive with there lights out in the dark. now if he saying about day running lights thats a standard in canada and not in usa. atleast not in most states.
lol safety item as a option. should be must standard. anyone know the wiring for to if u could mod a night sensor to it?

Auto on headlamps is not standard equipment on any of the models. Shame! It is part of the Safety Sphere Group as previously mentioned which includes auto dim rearview mirror with microphone, rain sensitive wipers rear park assist, blind spot monitoring and rear cross path detection. It's an $895.00 option and that sucks.
Auto on headlamps should be "law" and made to be standard equipment.
I have a base model challenger and it has auto on lights.

I think there is some confusion here.
1. In Canada, "ALL" vehicles must have "daytime running lights". which means the front low beam headlights are constantly on or in some models, either park lights or fog lamps come on instead which is also legal.
2. "Automatic On" headlights means all lights(low beam headlights and rear tail lamps)as well as your instrument panel lights come on as it gets dark. This requires an electronic eye.
I think that is the main issue or complaint on this forum. There's more to it than putting in some sort of relay. Much more complicated than that.
