2003 Dodge Grand Caravan Bad gas/stall
I bought gas on Sat. Drove about 50 miles, no problem. Sun morning, check engine light came on. Drove about 3 miles and the van stalled. I was near a parking lot, so coasted there. Turned off key and restarted engine fine only to have it stall after about 100 ft. Finally got it started and running long enough to get to the dealer, about a mile. Dealer told me I had gotten bad gas. Fuel pump that was installed 6 months ago was full of black colored gas. They pulled the gas tank and found particles in the gas. $500 later, got the car home fine...but went to the store and noticed that the fuel pump shut didn't shut off after it primed...stalled out several more times. What could be wrong now! Help please!
The code that showed was a misfire @ #5. Took the car back to the dealer and now says it's the car's main computer. Of course the car didn't stall for him! But he was able to get it to code that the crankshaft sensor was bad too. So changing out both today. The van has 113,000 miles on it and other than regular maintance, has not had any major problems. Thanks for any help.
Well, he put in the crankshaft position sensor AND a cam sensor. The van didn't quit on the all day, in the shop, but they haven't actually taken it for a drive. That's today's test. If this doesn't work, then it will have to have the new computer. Argh!
