2012 GC few questions
OK couple of questions for those of you with the same engine as our 2012 and the automatic sliding doors and air conditioning.
1) How is idle quality in your vans. Mine is not so great, in fact at times it is noticeable enough that my wife commented on it. This is a woman that notices nothing about a vehicle unless is doesn't start.
2) anyone else have issues with the auto sliding doors making a clicking noise when they reach the full open position? Ours does this intermittently as well as sometimes the door will be opening normally with the motor driving it and then it will disengage the motor and free slide the rest of the way. It does this while parked on a hill and the door will slam open...
3) How is your a/c performance. Ours seems like it is under performing. I started it the other day, ambient temp was 82 according to the info center in the dash. It seemed to not be cooling very well, so I got my vent thermometer and in the vent in the center stack it was only getting to about 70 degrees. I opened the hood and the electric fan was running, as well as the compressor. Once we started driving it cooled better but still never got below about 57 - 58 degrees running down the interstate. Running secondary roads it was still around 60 or so..

Not a 2012 owner but here goes. Can't speak to 1 & 2 but for #3 it sounds like refrigerant is leaking from the system and not allowing the system to work to capacity. Generally, the air coming out of vents should be 35 degrees or more below outside ambient temps. Not sure of the specific temp for your van. Have the dealer check pressures on the system to determine if it needs more refrigerant. They will add a dye into the system to make finding any leaks much easier.
In my 2011 Grand Caravan (Canada, same as 2012) my camping thermometer when stuck into the center air vents reads about 50 F., outside temp was about high 70's. Hope that helps.

We found that keeping the area below the driver and passenger seats helps tremendously to cool the rest of the van. there are some vents down there for AC and heating...

Mine has idled rough from day one. They say it's normal.
My doors do the same as yours but only when in our driveway on an incline. I think they reach a limit switch or something.
My AC may also be the same as yours. It could be that it's just a big volume to cool and I'm used to cars.
Just be glad if you're not experiencing the crappy clunky shift into drive like others are. It sucks for a new van to have a poor tranny. Again, it isn't throwing a code so it's okay
