Default 94 dodge caravan, expert advice needed

I've been having issue with my van idling and dying.
Some info that might help narrow down the problem are: The idler pulley slips a little bit setting the belt slighty of track, the front motor mount is damaged and makes the engine have little more shifting than normal.
When the van is cool it runs fine forward and reverse and drive prefect at speeds over ten mph but after it heats up it will start to die while idling around corners and such. And reverse is very jumpy shuttering backwards and will die as well. I've checked hoses, air cleaner and so on. The map sensor has been replaced as well, no changes. The local mechanic is 80% sure it's the torque converter, but for the 500 dollar repair I would like a definte cause before investing that money. I've been all over the net and have seen others with the same issue with fixes that number in the dozens. I can not afford to purchase part after part and hope for the best. I really need to work with what I have for I'm no where close to having the money to get a newer car. Also, the computer has not registered and error codes. I love this van, been thru thick and thin with her and would hate to see her hit the junk yard.. Any ideas would be a great help.. Thanks guys

Welcome to DF
The check engine light will never come on when you have a transmission failure. Maybe a speedo inop. That because the PCM and TCM didn't share the same information until 1996 models. To check for any stored codes on the 1989 thru 1995 you need to find the blue body connector under the dash on the left side of the steering column. Once you get any stored codes out of the TCM post them and we would be able to give you an answer.

Okay I'll take the vehicle back and ask which port they used to find error code.
If anyone has a 'aha' moment regarding the vans issue please share. I'm tired of walking 6 miles a day to work lol..

Did your mechanic consider the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve. It controls engine idle rpm when sitting in park or in gear. Anytime a demand is put on the engine when the throttle plate is closed (foot off the pedal) such when slowing for a turn, stopping at a stop light, putting it into gear, turning the steering wheel or turning on the A/C. It will open allowing additional air into the intake plenum. This boosts idle rpm enough to keep it from stalling and maintains the required 800 or so rpm.

There was a few problem we found back in the day, that was a sticking AIS motor, open EGR valve and the wire haness shorting out on the heater hose pipe at the intake manifold.

Thanks for all th great info guys.. I'll probably start with the cheapest parts. Of all that has been suggested which one of them would cause the major issue with reverse? It's almost like the van jumps back shuttering is a understatment. As I mentioned the front motor mount has broken rubber so the engine shifts quite a bit while shifting from drive to reverse. The mechanic assured me that it has nothing to do with anything, but I'm not too sure.. But when the van is cold it runs prefect, no issues whatsoever..
