2012 caravan trailer wire harness
I have a 2012 caravan just bought it used but it came without a hitch stop by the dealership today to order a hitch for it to put on myself as well as the wire harness just the 4 plug harness. I was advised that even if i put everything on myself I would have to take it to them to have the computer reset to let it know that the wire harness was added. I have installed a couple of hitches in my life as well as the harness, done a couple of 7 way flat plugs with brakes all on my pickups. this is the first time i have heard of haveing to reset the computer is this true do i have to have the computer reset. any help would be greatly appreciated
who ever told you this.. stay away from them. you dont need any thing reset. my harness that supposively my 2010 came equiped for trailer which i had to do lmao. my harness was just a connections you remove from your tail lights and put them back into a t of the harnes. go to itrailer and you see vids on yours. i bought a trailer hitch local hitch company. not dealer. 2" one. i did the install which with one exemption i add for you i had a torque wrench. You will need this to be safe to know you atleast have the bolts torqued to the safety specs. i even went as far to put a 7 pin in mine for trailer brakes. You need that for 1500lbs +.
now if you towing more than that i would check if you got the tow package. the extra coolers for tranny and oil. the suspension beefed up a bit.

I bought the best Drawtite 111 hitche . Before you can install you have to remove 4 exhaust pipe hangers all the way to the spare tire holder . then get your riding lawn mower an take a tow strap to pull & hold the exhaust resanator muffler down & out of the way to be able to access the 2 bolt under the exhaust on the right side .
It's real eaisy too remove the 5 bolts ,but the re-install is hard as you need to install the bolts at the rear 1st or your front bolts arn't long enough to reach the threads till the rear bolts are tight .
Anyone can do the job if he has a set of drive on ramps or in this case back up ramps .
The bolts are cheap sheet metal bolts not like a beefy truck frame mount . Thats why you need a torque wrench . Cheap ,cheap !!! Very nice hitche ,but I wouldn't tow anything heavy. O'Yes I own a 2010 G,C.

Just to confirm for you - I installed a wiring harness for my boat trailer last week on my new 2012 Grand Caravan. Didn't have to reset squat - just connected it via the directions, hooked up the boat, and it worked perfectly.
