Angry No audio from Radio/dvd system

I have a 2005 Grand Caravan and since I purchased it I've had intermittent problems with no audio from the stereo/DVD system. In the past I would shut the car off then turn it back on and it would work but in the last few months the problem is much worse and I'd say it works once out of every 10 times it's started. Everything appears to be working just fine, you can change stations, switch to DVD, switch to CD, just no audio. If you're lucky and it works it will continue to work until it is shut off. When it was new the problem seemed to be related to watching DVD's for long time periods but we never watch DVD's anymore. Any ideas?

Can the AMP be replaced or does the whole system need to be replaned?

It's a separate piece. Behind the right rear quarter trim panel. Towards the back just under the glass mounted to the body.
