Red face 2002 Grand Caravan not starting intermittently

Hello! I am new to the forum and seeking guidance. We had the computer re-programmed two years ago. It had a one year warranty and the engine light/code came on just after the warranty expired. We drove it around for another twelve months with the light on because I couldn't bring myself to think that it needed to be re-programmed again, and it seemed to be running ok even with the light on. A few months ago I was driving down the road and the car just died. Twenty minutes later, I was able to re-start it. Since then, on numerous occasions, it has failed to start after sitting for about an hour. We give it another half hour or hour of sit time and it starts right up. The mechanic said it was not finding the programming and suggested we have the computer re-programmed again, which we did. But, it is still having the same problem! Any ideas?

First of all....you need to get a new "mechanic" If that is, in fact what he said.

Second, if there are warning lights on, there are codes that made them come on. Try and get them. From your description it appears that the SKIM module may at fault here.

AutoZone and others will connect a scanner and read your codes for free. That's the best way but if that's not possible cycle the key from off to on/run (not start) three times leaving it at on/run the final cycle. The codes will pop up on your odometer display.
