Service Engine Soon
Based on that your codes are 12, 31, 55. You can disregard the first and third.
Code 31 means you have a problem in the EVAP purge solenoid circuit. Here's some generic back ground info. A code 31 equates to a scanner code P0443: http://www.obd-codes.com/p0443 The solenoid itself in a small domed housing next to the coolant overflow bottle. It should start clicking 2-3 minutes after starting.

Breakdown? If all you are experiencing is the SES light then no. It will only effect emissions. As it says in the link you may hear a "woosh" when removing the fuel cap caused by the trapped fumes. All the system does is trap fuel fumes from the fuel tank while the van is sitting and not running. Soon after you start the engine the fumes are released into the engine to be burned. That said, don't wait forever. Your check engine light will be on and will mask any other problems that might come up.
You could check the solenoid valve connector and make sure it's on tight and not corroded. If it's not clicking within a few minutes after starting try tapping on it. Other than that, if you're not handy with a meter there's not much to do besides have a mechanic look at it.
