Throttle Body Screw Adjustment
2.4L 2000 Base model. Previous owner drilled out the screw seal and adjusted on the throttle body stop screw. I understand that this will not change the idle speed, but apparently he thought it did. Is there a way to get it back in the ballpark short of a scan tool?? If I junk yarded one that had not been tampered with, will it be correctly set or are they set individually and matched to the engine? Ohm out the TPS and set to a specific reading??
What i have tried is to move the screw in until blipping the throttle resulted in the engine taking a long time to come back to idle, and then backed it off again. hoping that is in the ballpark.
Main problem seems to be when in gear or in park, the engine returns to idle, stays there for about 15 seconds, and then drops really really low. I would like to get the screw set so I can work on the low idle problem. Other than that, the engine runs great.
Thanks guys!!
