Default 2002 Grand Caravan Rear Drums Dragging?

I can feel them, or one of them dragging on & off at a slow roll at intersections where I am creeping down.

So I have the drums turned and still get the wheel is dragging half way around and free the other. Not as bad as before though.

So after having them turned I adjust them to drag a tad and barely have a parking brake. I see no adjustment to get more parking brake pedal.

Thnaks

Try freeing up and lubricating the parking brake leaver and the rocking part fastened to the opposite shoe inside the drum.

Thanks, Will Do.

Is there a take up adjustment for the cable? I have some drag and when I let it slow roll free and press the pedal it doesn't stop or grab until almost to the floor. I really do not think it will hold on a steep hill.

There is no adjustment for the parking brake, it is done automaticly with the spring in the pedal assm. I found the rocking equilizer part on the brake shoe and the leaver siezes up check also to make sure the pistons are free and not rusted in the wheel cylinder. I have had these problems with both my vans.

Thanks, The brakes have been redone in the last 3 years, new wheel cylinders and such. But I will still check.

The pedal and spring is perhaps key. It was acting strange by not locking but came out of it. Maybe it is not adjusting either.

I agree with Hankster: it will MOST likely be the parking brake lever in the wheel. When you get the brakes checked or serviced, they NEVER check the parking brake lever in the wheel: they are more than likely to tell you your parking brake cable is seized up (an expensive replacement). I took the mechanism apart and wire-brushed everything clean so it had lots of free movement when it was put back together. Problem solved.

Thanks guys, I'll see. Still wondering how the P-Brake will go to the floor and not put more bind in the drum that it has. Especially since I hand adjusted the drums to drag a tad after having them turned.

I'll be exploring for sure.
