I just bought an 09 Grand Caravan that has a Curt Mfg trailer hitch attached. That is perfect as I planned to do a bit of towing. The hitch will handle towing a gross trailer weight of 4000 lbs or 5000 lbs with a weight distributing system [which I will be using].
However, how much weight will the van itself handle? It has a 3.3 engine. The van is not here right now so I haven't been able to see if it has a tow package. Would the serial number tell us that?

 

hitch capacity just means its capacity. your vehicle probably could only tow in the area or 1500lbs to 2000lbs pushing it with a distrubution. mine is a 4.0 and its rated 1500lbs without distrub and with 3800lbs.
mine came prepped with tranny and oil coolers. suspension.

be careful what people say cause the cost will be your transmission.
