Default How to change transmission oil? 2007

I searched the forum and google but couldnt find how to do this for my Grand Caravan. Pls direct me to a web page or give brief instructions. I have changed engine oil/filter and have done minor repairs.

Is the procedure same as changing engine oil?
Is there a transmission filter to change like when changing oil?

No, if is completely different from doing engine oil change. you have to remove the Trans oil pan, held on by a dozen of 10mm bolts and RTV sealer. Remove the Pan, you will see the filter.
Afterward, clean the RTV off the oil pan with a scraper, razor blade, wire brush, or whatever tool you have avalible, then reseal it with new RTV. You fill up the trans pan from the Dip Stick tube afterward.

do NOT try to replace it with a gasket the part store sell you, it will leak.

there are some Youtube videos on how to remove Trans oil pan, just search around. And this job will be a very messy job.

One way to avoid most of the mess is to pump the fluid out the dipstick with a small fluid pump available at parts stores. That avoids the mess created when you knock the pan loose and try to finesse removing the pan and pouring the fluid in a waste jug. Make sure you refill with nothing but ATF+4 fluid. I'll second the RTV. Just don't over do. 1/8th inch bead is plenty.
