Default Horn, Headlight and Front Turn Signals issues

Hi there I need some expert opinion. I just got a Grand Caravan 2005 and man it's worrying me already.

I don't know if any of this is related but this is how it goes. I test drove it and everything was working great.

Last week I went to the dealer so they could cut me a key with the lock/unlock buttons since the original owner had lost his set of keys and all I had was just a key without the keyless entry.

Anyways I got it back and everything was working ok. When I locked the doors with the remote the horn was working. Then I took it to JB Power Center to get a replacement remote for the starter since it came with a remote starter installed but no remote for it.

Then a few days later I noticed that the horn no longer worked when locking the van with the keyless entry given by the dealer and today I noticed that my front turning signals don't work but the rear turning signals work.

The bulbs are fine, they come on when you turn on the car but when you put the parking lights or turn on the lights. The bulbs go off and when you try the turning signals they just don't come on. But the rear turning lights work fine. I also noticed that my left head lamp does not come on either. Only when you turn on the car with the switch on off they come on, then when you put the parking lights or turn on the lights only the passenger headlight comes on.

I have verified that the bulbs are fine. Does anyone have an idea of what could be wrong?

Right now the front signal lights do not work when the switch is on park or the sitch is on, also thce driver head light is not coming on when on park on when the switch is on. And the horn just doesn't work

All this was fine 2 weeks ago when I bought it.

All related to the PCI data bus system. Try removing the IOD fuse in the IPM (fuse box) for 2-3 minutes and see if anything corrects itself. This will reset the BCM, the heart of the data bus. If that doesn't do it disconnect the negative battery cable for 2-3 minutes. Still broke? Look towards the BCM, FCM and IPM connections.

Your horn works when you hit the horn pad on the steering wheel correct?

I'll give that a shot... No the horn doesn't work at all

***Edit***

Removing the IOD fuse for a few mins did not do anything. I did not try the battery yet because I was running late for work. I'll try that later.

It's really odd. Everything was working fine when I bought it. In fact even my headlights worked fine till yesterday that I replaced the bulbs. After replacing them, they worked fine but the driver side headlight started giving problems probably 1 hr after replacing the bulbs.

However I noticed the issue with the signal lights as I was changing the headlight bulbs yesterday. I thought the bulbs were burnt but they are not.

The issue with the horn I noticed it last Friday. It worked before that.

My Mechanic says he will check the wiring today but he's thinking it could be the IPM itself and he says that is very expensive

Yes the IPM is high on the list for two reasons. It has a known corrosion problem and the connection between it and the Front Control Module (FCM) has caused many a headlight headache. The FCM is bolted to the front of the IPM. The good news is many headlight problems can be cured by removing the FCM and slightly bending the spade contacts to make better contact. Since your horn isn't working at all it may be as simple as changing a fuse or relay or the clockspring may be shot.

Interesting. I don't know what triggered it but I did try the high beams and they stayed on. Yesterday they would not stay on. And today on my way home I noticed that the horn works and the signal lights work. However the driver head light still does not turn on in park or night driving. Also the high beam works and stays on in the driver side right now. Yesterday it would not stay on

**Edit**

I put the old Headlight back and now both headlights work fine, the horn works and the signal lights work but this issue seems intermitent mmmmmmm. My Mechanic did not check the wiring but he's possitive it's the FCM. I'm about to pull the trigger on the FCM but I'm not sure what's the cheapest place to order from. I'm in Canada. Some places do not ship to Canada. The dealer wants $275 for the FCM lol

I need part number: RL144579AC

Here's one source that ships internationally though I know nothing about them.

Yeah I tried them and they charge a $125 core deposit fee and $51 shipping to Canada. I bought the IPM+FCM from Ebay used. Guaranteed to work or my money back for $115

The problem is that I keep reading that to change the FCM, it will need to be reprogrammed from the dealer according to my Van options, the problem is that I doubt that the dealer will want to if I don't buy the part from them and probably worse if it's a used part. This now has me thinking if I'll be able to use it or know.

The good news is that since it fixed itself a couple of days ago. The issue has no come back yet.
