Solenoid Pack? 2001 DGC
150,000 miles on the DGC, it's been running and shifting just fine. The weather here just turned from 70s to 40s and today my wife said the van started bucking when she was slowing down. I drove it tonight and it occurs when downshifting and only when in D. If I drive with the selector in "3" it's fine.
It's a DGC Sport, 3.3L w/ the 4 speed electronic trans.
Trans fluid was low but clean. Quite low. I put in 2 quarts to bring it up to the Warm mark on the stick. Still it bucks on downshifts. After a little searching on the web and this forum I'm wondering if being low on fluid damaged the Solenoid pack.
The pan gasket leaks and I've tightened up the pan bolts but it probably needs a new gasket and filter.
Thoughts?
Thanks,

Not sure about the trans symptoms relating to the pack but on the trans pan leak if its leaking from the front edge it may not be the pan gasket, but the solenoid pack.
I posted a thread with pics on it.
There are YouTube videos out there on changing the pack. My dealership wanted 300-ish parts and labor for the pack and 120-ish for the pan gasket & filter. I can do it but I always price my dealer in the event I want to be lazy.

Thanks for the reply. I watched a youtube video last night of a solenoid pack replacement. Looks very straightforward and an easy DIY except for the "relearn" with the trans control module. I'll have to find a shop to do that part.
Napa has a large distribution facility two miles from work. I'll check there for the part.
Weekender.

Then ran it and found the REAL leak. I guess you seen my post?
If you do this let the motor cool enough the exhaust will not burn you but still help the Gunk work better.
The leak is my secondary concern at this point but thanks for the suggestions.
My primary concern is whether or not the balky downshifting when driving in the "D" position is likely a Solenoid Pack issue or not. If I drive in "3" it doesn't do it.
I suppose that a leaky gasket under the pack could let pressure blow past and cause the hard downshifts???
