Talking Traction Control

"I recently got new tires on my 2008 dodge grand caravan... shortly after or right after not sure the abs and tractrion control lights came on... The codes it is pulling are B1240, B1219, B123F, b123c. I have did a reset and they came back on... Please help..."

Do you think getting new tires could have caused this if not what could it be?

New tires as in all four? The diameter of all four tires must be the same or very close.

B1240 and B1219 do not come up as good codes. The other 2 are not readable on my screen. ABS codes should start with a C or a U

Yup, you are looking for "chassy" codes. The codes you have are "body" codes and appear to be seat heat codes according to EQUUS.
You likely have a wheel sensor circuit that has opened up either in the sensor itself or the circuit to it. Inspect the wheel sensors and wire harnesses to them. Could they have been damaged when the tires were changed? Sure could.

On the other hand, if the codes really are C1240 Steering angle sensor overtravel performance or C1219 Steering angle sensor erratic performance, then you'd be looking at a bad steering angle sensor--AND that WOULD set off your traction control trouble light. The sensor is built into the clockspring. The traction control system uses that as an input to determine Yaw rate versus input. If the vehicle is moving differently than the computer expects, the traction control operates the ABS brakes to bring it back into line. Traction control is really kind of a misnomer. It doesn't actually increase traction. Some systems cut power to eliminate wheel spin, while others apply the brakes during a perceived skid.

Well hey, that's a good point Rick. Prefix the codes with a "C" and it makes a whole lot a sense.

The discriptions sound correct. The advanced auto parts employee read them off and I wrote them down. I remember him saying that's what they are one saying dynamic and one mentioned angle something. so can this be trouble shooted by myself? Is this common? My standard warrenty is up but read the ABS system was covered for 8 years. what do you all suggest?

Thanks in advance!

RickMN, Is there a reset procedure for the SAS as on the LX platforms?
