Head Gasket Replacement
I have a 2000 GC with all the signs and symptoms of a blown head gasket. I started into the tear down last night, but I have some questions. First, does anyone have any recommendations as to what to do or not to do. Second, is there anywhere I can get a good exploded diagram of the 2000 3.3l engine? I'm not completely useless at automotive things and I have a hoist to work with, but my manual is vague at best. It assumes you know where all the sensors and vacuum hoses are, so it really doesn't bother to show you where they are, or shows where they are on the 4 cyl or 3.8l. As for the head gasket symptoms, compression across 2, 4 and 6 is 125, 0 and 50 respectively. Also, my engine oil level magically over-filled itself and is no longer the slippery substance it should be. Any and all advise is greatly appreciated.
While your in there: water pump and timing set should be inspected well and done if you have the mileage. And may as well treat her to new plugs since they are a snap to change with the top end off.
When the heads off use a straight edge and feeler gauges to check that it's still square.
IMHO get FeLpro gaskets and nothing else.
