Question New Member seeking advice

Hello everyone, I'm new here and am having problems with a 2003 Caravan 2.4 DOHC. Hoping someone can share their experience. The problem I'm having seems to be excessive oil at the camshaft position sensor. It will throw a code indicating a bad sensor. I've replaced the sensor but still get the same problem. I think excessive oil behind the sensor may be the issue. If I remove the sensor, clean it up and replace, it will run fine for about 10-15 minutes, then begin cutting out. When I remove the sensor quickly after the issue, old will drain out. The sensor itself has an o-ring type seal but it looks like there is no type if seal on the back of the camshaft. This leads me to believe by design, oil is expected in this area. So my question is, what is in place to prevent oil from interfering with the sensor. Why would I have excessive oil in this area?

Go buy a Pig Tail connector for CAM sensor from the Dealer and install it. Make sure you use those Heat Shrink tubes that comes in the package.
The Weather Seal in the Connector suppose to prevent water and Oil getting into the sensor.

Also, you valve cover gasket might be leaking causing Oil on the sensor? perhaps you should consider replacing the Valve cover gasket with the Spark plug tube seal.
