I was in an accident and my right rear axle is bent.
I was quoted $900 for a new axle by my mechanic... I think I want to find the axle and do it myself. I'm not afraid of a socket wrench.

Where can I find out what parts I need and a rough idea of how to go about it.

I believe the axle is actually called a "stub axle".

I have both Caravan manuals and neither goes into much detail.

 

Gonna be tough finding that part, most of the ones in the scrapyard go straight to the crusher. I'd personally swap out the entire axle assembly.

When I do a search for "axle assembly" I keep seeing different parts, axle hub, etc with 4 lugs, 5 lugs, stub axle... I need a good expanded illustration of what all is in there, I guess. A little confusing.

My two service manuals don't go into much detail.
