2002 GC Sport ECM change
I got a rebuilt GC Sport that was hit on the ECM side. The bottom connector is broke and the car won't crank. I called a local dealer and they want $811 for the ECM which I think is to high. He said he would only program one bought through them. He said if I bought one from the exact make, model and features it would work. Are these my only options since it has a security system? Also if I find the exact ecm from the exact van will the key still work?

The security system will store a code to indicate the problem area. That code has to be read by a scanner capable of reading either "body" or "chassey" codes and I don't recall which. A dealership will use their magical DRBIII do all scanner.
If the security light is on steady the system either isn't disarming or there is a fault and very likely in the SKIM module in the steering column.
A little more info on SKIM system: http://www.autofixlist.com/main.do?a...bID=4&menuID=0
