Exclamation 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan SE sometimes wont start

Hello
My 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan SE sometimes wont start. I am not sure what the problem is , but sometimes the engine starts and sometimes it does not. I changed the battery hoping this issue can be fixed but it did not.

I bought the van used and there is a security system installed on it (I think it is a security system) , not sure if it is from original factory or it has been done after the factory, but there is a button on top of the break and gas pedal that said "on" and "off". Pushing it to turn in on or off , does not change anything.

does anyone have similar issue with their dodge grand caravan? if you had experienced such a issue, I really appreciate if you let me know how did you fix it.

Thanks

Welcome to DF

I don't think that is a factory setup. Factory should have a remote to lock and unlock the doors.

A friend of mine who is an electrician came to have a look at the van, but unfortunately at that time the engine started and he could not find where the problem is , also there is a red light blinking in the dashboard (close to radio and heater controllers) .
can that be related to the issue ?

also can it be because of the a) ignition, b) fuel c) compression ? or since it sometimes starts and sometimes does not the issue can not be with fuel and ignition ?

Sure it could be a bad ignition switch.
