Trouble removing alternator field wire connector
How do I disconnect the field wire connector from the alternator of a 2002 Caravan?
Service manual simply says: "Disconnect the push-in field wire connector".
I believe there is a release tab underneath, but I had no luck squeezing, twisting, or turning it.
I see two red plastic tabs on each side, but they don't budge.
Here are several photos: http://goo.gl/HQmt5
Is there another secret?
Thanks in advance for any advice,
Andy

I figured it out. There is a red plastic tab on the side of the connector. It serves as a 'double lock'. See the last two photos in the album: http://goo.gl/HQmt5
There are two steps to remove the connector:
- pull the red tab on the side of the connector out (about 1/8 inch or 3mm) until it clicks, then
- squeeze and hold the black tab at the end of the connector and wiggle the connector loose.
To install the connector, reverse both steps:
- wiggle the connector on until the black tab locks, then
- push in the red tab until it clicks.
I hope this info helps someone. I've never seen it in decades of DIY wrenching. Couldn't find it in the caravan service manual. Guy at the local parts store had no idea. 42 views on this forum and no comments. Amazing.

The red tab needs to slide one way to unlock and slide back when you put the connector back on. If you look at the red tab, the thick side is the lock side. To unlock the red tab, use a flat blade screwdriver and slide the tab.
