Just installed Monroe Quick Struts 171572L/R
Just installed and have a few questions. The original Dodge struts had only two round holes to mount to knuckle. The new Monroe Quick Strut 171572 has one round hole on top and one elongated hole on the bottom. It's say's at Amazon and Monroe that a special kit AK71 maybe needed for alignment. Of course Amazon does not have the AK71 kit. Has anyone installed these on a 2001 Grand Caravan without the AK71 kit? If so have you had any problems with the alignment? Will it hold? I think it is ridiculous for Monroe to ship these out without proper hardware.
Edit info: Just spoke to Monroe, they said not to worry and just install the same bolts back in tighten and take in for alignment. The elongated holes are for alignment purposes and don't require a special cam bolt.
Edit 6/26/2013: Well called back to Monroe and of course got a complete different answer on the cam bolts. This tech said you had to have them if the lower hole is elongated? So now a little confused? Which rep is correct? So taking to shop to have it aligned. Hopefully they'll know if it needs them or not?
I installed struts, shocks, and stabilizer bar bushings (the stabilizer links were replaced about 7k ago and still good. The ride really improved quite a bit. Don't heard some of the clunking sounds any more.
Thx

I was just getting ready to install some new shocks on the rear of my 2001 Grand Caravan when I noticed that the Stabilizer/Sway bar looks weird to me. Some the bends seem odd. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it normal? Maybe I can take pic and post.
Thanks
