I honestly don't think the missing clips would cause the symptoms you've described. That would seem like it could cause noise.

Sorry you hafta head to the dealer, was hoping we could resolve it without a dealer trip.

Me too.....I will let them tell me the problem then I will fix it if possible. I didn't hear back from them today but they thought that it could be the brake lines.

Ok just heard back from the dealer. They said that the rear wheel cylinders aren't working and all the braking is happening by the front causing the pads to heat, etc.

No kidding! The issue seems to have been resolved by changing the wheel cylinders, and turning the rotors. Sooooo much better than bypassing the ABS pump which if he would've done that it would not have fixed the issue at all.

All in all, I'm glad you're up and running again. I think it's a little strange that both wheel cylinders were giving you trouble, but stranger things in life have happened.

Regardless, I'm glad you got a second opinion. Frankly, (not to say mean things about someone I don't know but), I smelled some BS on the whole "bypassing the ABS" thing. I am not a career mechanic by any means, just a DIYer who got some state certs (as a plan B, fall back in case my current career went away or something), but it just seemed weird to me.

Anyway, glad it has been sorted out, hopefully the dealership trip didn't sting too bad.
