replace water pump in 98 Grand caravan
How hard is it to replace water pump in 98 Grand Caravan with 3.3L engine? I seems that you have to deal with engine mount? If anyone would like to share procedures with me, that would be great. Had planned to go to Detroit this weekend, but might have to postpone if I can't replace this by myself.
Thanks

Easy to replace by yourself. Jack up the vehicle, remove the RF wheel. Then remove the plastic splash shield that is covering the belts. The water pump will be to your right facing the front of the engine. Loosen the three water pump pulley attaching bolts, remove the belt and finally remove the 5 or 6 bolts that hold the pump to the engine. Clean the mounting sirface install the new pump with the new o-ring and the rest is the reverse of removal. I usually put a light bead of a good RTV on the groove of the water pump where the o-ring goes in to hold it in place while the pump is being installed and the bolts tightened. If you have a high mileage engine, becareful of the water pump mounting bolts as they do sometimes break, rarely, but it does happen.
Good luck, should only take about an hour or so.

I have to do one on a 1998 Voyager with the 2.4L 4-cylinder engine. I think the 4 cylinder engine is harder to work on than the 6 cylinder engine. The water pump on the 4 cylinder is spun by the timing belt. And everything on this engine is much more expensive than the 6 cyl.
Has anyone ever done the water pump on the 4 cylinder engine? I checked with the dealer, and they stated that the timing cover HAS to be changed with a new and improved cover that costs $225.00. That sounds bogus to me. Has anyone else ever heard of this?

I did a water pump replace this weekend on my 99 caravan 3.3. Had to be one of the easiest jobs I have ever did on any car, truck or motorcycle I have ever owned. Totally simple.
