Default Lift gate

I just brought a 2002 dodge g/caravan sport 3.3 the rear lift gate
Module circuit board is fried part No ( p04686687AL )
Soft ware rev 12.2 2120 is the information on the the part.

I went to a salvage yard and found one from a later year I think it
May have been 2004 or 2007 part No on that one is
( p04686687AQ ) With software rev 14.1 7111

Will I be able to use this module if so is there any thing that I need to do or check before I connect it

Thank you

A search of an online parts catalog shows that part number 4686687AL has been superseded by part number 4686687AQ, so the module will work. What I am not sure of is whether your vans computer will need to be updated to work with the new part number. Perhaps one of the Chrysler Techs on the board will know.

Here is a tech tip from mopar.

Tech Tip Part Description: Module - Power Liftgate

Tech Tip Description: If the customer complaint is that when closing, manually or by power, the Lift Gate will not shut due to the latch being closed. This issue can be identified by rotating the liftgate latch to the closed position and looking for witness marks where the outer surface of the latch has contacted the striker on body. Please replace both the latch and module.

When replacing the Power Liftgate Module, be sure to order 04686687AN (or later level).

I opened up the lock assembly on tailgate. Small motor that is there is burned out
Label reads RS-385PH. RN541x25 motor made by mabuchi so now I'm on the hunt for this little motor which maybe under 10.00 compare to the whole lock assembly of over 150.00 or so.

I just went through a long debug on the my 2002 Caravan liftgate problem, and found that the latch (full assembly) in the liftgate door had to be replaced. I actually replaced both the motor, and the power liftgate module, and neither fixed my issue. I even had the dealer attempt to do a flash upgrade on the power liftgate module, and they came back and said the flash update wouldn't go through, and the liftgate module needed to replaced. I finally debugged it it and found that the latch had to be replaced, I found that one of the sensors coming off the latch that feeds back to the power lift gate module was not closing (shorting to ground). What's happening with when you attempt to open the door with the key fob? Any beeps or lights flashing?
