This is a new problem for the 97 grand caravan with a 3.8 Lt engine -

It will stall intermittently at idle and mostly when in gear and with the AC on but also will stall when idling when not under load. While I'm watching it will run fine for 5 to 10 minutes then just stop - I'd call it a hiccup - it doesn't drag this out with shudders of coughs - it just stops.

It's pulling a po134 code - O2 Sensor CKT No Activity ( Bank 1 Sensor 1)
I've replaced the O2 sensor in front of the catalytic converter which did not stop the stalling.
The car is not throwing any other codes
Any ideas on what I should look into.

Thanks to you all for being out there - I could never fix that car with just the worthless manual. I search the archives for the code but nothing came up.

Will it restart right away? Still getting the P0134 code? When it stalls are you loosing all power or just the engine?

Usually stalling out of the blue points to either a failing cam or crank sensor and they often fail without throwing a code. You can verify they are getting a reference voltage from the PCM and they're getting a good ground. Loss of power to the ign coil and injectors points to a failed sensor. You're not seeing the typical symptoms of a failing fuel pump but it would be a good move to verify the pump is working when it stalls. Check pressure with a gauge or depress the plunger in the fuel rail test port. Fuel should squirt and not dribble.

So - I had not checked to see if the power to the whole car stopped .
First I'll do that then I'll check to see if the sensors are getting the right juices .

Thanks again Cougar 41 - - after a lot of reading on the stalling issues I decided to go ahead and and take your advise and change out the CPS .The tests you advised pointed to a failed Crankshaft position sensor. The van is running again and my wife is happy ! ! ! !
